DULUTH, MN – Duluth-based law firm Fryberger, Buchanan, Smith & Frederick, P.A. recently announced that attorney Daniel F. Burns has been named a shareholder.
Burns joined Fryberger’s Duluth office in 2024, bringing extensive experience in public finance and economic development. His background aligns closely with Fryberger’s long-standing reputation as a leader in public finance law. He provides legal services to local governments, nonprofits, and lenders that provide tax-exempt financing to those entities. “My clients help promote and serve the common good, which is part of my mission, my vocation, as a lawyer,” said Burns.
Burns earned his bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and received his Juris Doctor from the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis.
With a strong commitment to affordable housing, Burns served for nine years on the board of directors for Affordable Housing Connections, a nonprofit organization that provides compliance management and education for affordable housing developments and programs.
Prior to joining Fryberger, Burns practiced at law firms in Minneapolis and St. Paul, where he developed a particular interest in public finance and working closely with local governments and nonprofits. He continues that work at Fryberger.
“I’m honored and grateful to be voted in as a shareholder,” Burns said. “Fryberger is a place with a great culture; good people wanting to do good work. I look forward to what’s ahead.”
“We are pleased to announce Daniel’s appointment as a shareholder,” said Fryberger President Mia Thibodeau. “His depth of knowledge in public finance and his commitment to our team make him a valuable addition to the firm’s ownership.”
